Baccarat's majestic crystal elephant vase

Unfettered spirits anchored in the wild seems to define the design vocabulary for objets d’art this season. Baccarat’s Elephant Vase is a stunning annotation of this call to nature, and revisits the celebrated Elephant Liquor Cabinet. Inspired by Napoleon’s magnificent elephant fountain project for the Place de la Bastille, the Elephant Liquor Cabinet was produced in a limited edition, with one of them said to have been commissioned by the Maharaja of Baroda in the 1920s. This model has inspired several rare reinterpretations, with the Elephant Vase being one of them. The caparisoned animal, crafted in midnight blue crystal, carries an imposing vase adorned with a Japanese bamboo motif on its back. The craftsmanship is beautifully complemented by the brilliance of the materials, while cut crystal meets fine gilded bronze in a bold, and elegant confluence of colour and majesty.
