Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has expressed admiration for R Madhavan's performance as India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in the Dhurandhar franchise. Speaking on the ANI podcast, Kangana said the film revitalised the Hindi film industry, which she felt was losing its connection with audiences before its release.

Kangana said Dhurandhar helped the film industry connect back with the country. She said the audience was turning South to experience better cinema with cultural relevance and regional appeal.

"If you see the spirit of the film industry, in a way, it was becoming disconnected from the country. Audience participation had declined, studios were depleting, and people didn't want to watch these films anymore," she said.

"Dhurandhar has revived the film industry"

According to Kangana, Dhurandhar has managed to rekindle the audience's interest by offering content that resonates with them. "With such relevant films, people want to watch them. The country has identified such films. You can see how the film has done amazing business as people wanted to see their own stories. Dhurandhar has revived the film industry and given new hope," she added.

In addition to praising the film, Kangana lauded her Tanu Weds Manu co-star, Madhavan, for his performance. She recalled meeting Doval earlier and compared his real-life personality to how Madhavan has channelised him in the film.

"Madhavan was terrific in the film. I have met Ajit Dovalji, and he has a huge personality. I think there should be an entirely separate film on Ajit Doval. Only then would an actor be able to do justice to his character. But Madhavan was very close. He is a very good actor," she explained.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released on March 19, has completed 30 days in theatres, becoming the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all-time worldwide. Written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, it is on the verge of becoming the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the global box office - only behind Dangal and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
