Mouni Roy steps out in Mumbai amid separation rumours with Suraj Nambiar

Actor Mouni Roy was seen on a dinner outing in Mumbai late on Wednesday night, marking her first public appearance since speculation around her marriage to businessman Suraj Nambiar gathered pace online. She stepped out with a female friend as reports and social media discussion around the couple continued through the day.

Earlier, Mouni had asked media outlets and social media users to respect her privacy and not spread what she described as false narratives. While the actor responded to the rumours through Instagram Stories, Suraj has not made any public statement so far.

Mouni's outing amid separation reports

The Naagin actor was photographed outside an eatery in Bandra during the late-night outing. She wore a black lace and satin outfit with pointed heels and carried a statement handbag. She was also seen wearing a diamond ring on her left hand and gold bracelets on her right hand.

As a crowd gathered outside the restaurant, Mouni was seen making sure that her friend got into her vehicle safely before she entered. The outing added a fresh public moment to a story that had largely been playing out online.

What sparked the speculation

The rumours gathered pace on Tuesday after social media users claimed that Mouni and Suraj had unfollowed each other on Instagram. By evening, the speculation grew further after some users said Suraj's Instagram account appeared to have been deleted.

Fans also noticed that no pictures of Suraj, including the couple's wedding photographs, were visible on Mouni's Instagram profile. Amid the discussion, Mouni shared a note on her Instagram Stories that read, "Humbly requesting all the media houses to not publish false narratives and give us space and privacy. Please."

Mouni and Suraj's relationship

Mouni married Suraj on January 27, 2022, in Goa. They had a traditional Malayali wedding and a Bengali wedding ceremony, followed by a post-wedding pool party.

Suraj, who is from Bengaluru, is a businessman and investment banker. He reportedly lived in Dubai before marrying Mouni. Over the years, Mouni and Suraj often shared glimpses of their relationship on Instagram through pictures from holidays, date nights and celebrations.

Mouni is known for television shows such as Kasturi, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev and Naagin. She has also appeared in reality shows, including Nach Baliye 6, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 and Zara Nachke Dikha. More recently, she hosted Temptation Island India and acted in films such as Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva, Gold and Made in China.
