Kangana Ranaut recalls fallout with ex: Was called a witch, accused of black magic
Kangana Ranaut recently spoke about a difficult phase in her late 20s when she faced severe personal attacks and was falsely accused of practising black magic. She described the experience as a witch-hunt.

Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has opened up about a challenging period in her life, detailing the intense scrutiny and personal attacks she faced in her late twenties. She recalls being accused of practising black magic during a public fallout with a former partner, a period she describes as a targeted attempt to damage her reputation.
In a recent podcast conversation with ANI, Ranaut shared that she was branded as a "witch" and accused of dark practices. She recounted, "My ex who filed a case on me, and on top of that, some people stood up and said she's a witch, she drinks blood, she does black magic." She described this as a witch-hunt, occurring when she was just 26 or 27 years old.
Reflecting on the expectations placed upon her at the time, Ranaut questioned why she should try to present others in a positive light when faced with such treatment. She stated, "I have no reason to make them look good," and maintained that she was doing her best under difficult circumstances.
The controversy surrounding her personal life made headlines after former partner Adhyayan Suman made claims in a 2016 interview with DNA. He alleged that Ranaut had once invited him for a midnight puja in a room draped in black, which terrified him. Suman also claimed he was later asked to perform rituals at a graveyard, which he refused.
In 2017, Aditya Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab filed a criminal defamation complaint against Ranaut and her sister Rangoli in an Andheri court over statements she made about her past relationship with Pancholi.
On the work front, she was last seen in the 2025 film Emergency.
