EKTA KAPOOR ON AUDIENCE LIKING WOMEN-LED FILMS

Opening up about what might have led to women-centric and women-led films to be doing well, Ekta Kapoor opined, “The female audience has been ignored for a long time, but with the rise of empowered women, we are seeing a change. Women are taking charge of the decision-making process and want to see their own stories on the screen. As a result, we are seeing more female audiences in theatres and on OTT platforms.”

She added, “Dirty Picture was one of the first female-centric films that I made in 2011, and since then, I am confident that such content will work. The success of women-led films like Veere Di Wedding, The Dirty Picture, and Gangubai has proven that there is a market for such content. We were pioneers in making a film like Dirty Picture, and at that time, it was a significant risk for us. However, our conviction was that female audiences love stories that relate to them, and this trend is growing with the increasing number of empowered female audiences.”
