When SRK and Akshay tried to stop Honey Singh from spiralling: Drugs will finish you
Honey Singh has said Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar repeatedly warned him that drugs would destroy him. He recalled the period when fame, addiction and poor choices pushed his career and personal life into crisis.

Singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has spoken again about his past struggle with substance abuse and bipolar disorder, saying Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar had repeatedly warned him that drugs would destroy him. He reflected on his years at the peak of fame, as well as the loneliness and personal collapse that followed.
How SRK, Akshay Kumar stepped in to warn Honey Singh
In an interview with ABTalks podcast, Honey Singh revealed that several stars noticed his lifestyle and addictions and asked him to stay away from them.
He said, "I don’t want to blame the entertainment industry for anything. I got the chance to share screen space with legends and have personal access to their lives at a very young age. People like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar — they are such simple people, there is no darkness in them.
"They used to observe me and tell me to stay away from what I was doing because it was wrong. Especially Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. Shah Rukh Khan told me many times, 'This is going to spoil you, finish you, and destroy you'," the singer added.
Honey Singh on being consumed by wealth and success
Honey Singh said that during his rise between 2011 and 2014, he lost himself to success, money and drugs. He said he was "not happy" and "not in my senses", adding that his thinking had changed at the time.
Reflecting on his rapid rise, the singer confessed that success drastically altered his behaviour, changing the way he walked and talked while causing him to "disrespect everyone."
The singer admitted to being consumed by arrogance, believing he was solely responsible for his achievements to the point where he "even used to call myself God." Describing that period as a "very demonic state of mind," he emphasised that he ultimately grew to detest that version of himself.
Honey Singh also said that he does not hold the entertainment industry responsible for his downfall, and instead blamed his own choices and mindset.
During the conversation, the singer recalled working with some of the biggest names in Hindi cinema during his rapid rise, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Honey Singh was among the biggest music names in the country when his career began to slide. The input states that after the success of Desi Kalakaar, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had fallen prey to substance abuse. In 2017, he broke down in the middle of a tour, quit music and substances, returned to Delhi and began recovery with what he described earlier as a global team of doctors and therapists.
In an earlier conversation with The Lallantop, he had described the extent of his addiction in stark terms. "I was drowning in drugs and alcohol, smoking 12-15 joints and downing bottles. I abandoned my family, lost control. This one time, I got so high I bit a friend on his stomach eight times," he had said.
After a long break from work, Honey Singh returned in 2023 with Kalaastar, a sequel to Desi Kalakaar, featuring Sonakshi Sinha. More recently, he has been occupied with music tours and also released the album 51 Glorious Days.
He also recently sang Jhoom Sharabi, which featured in De De Pyaar De 2 featuring Ajay Devgn.
