'Sholay' director Ramesh Sippy remembered Dharmendra with deep respect and emotion as he reflected on the actor’s death. Speaking to India Today, Sippy recalled Dharmendra’s warmth, talent, and the unforgettable impact he left on Indian cinema before sharing a heartfelt tribute.
He said, "This was expected, it was going to happen since for a couple of months he was keeping unwell. But yet, when it finally comes, it is not easy to accept. He was such a fine and wonderful man. The thought that he is no more itself makes you very gloomy, but let us remember him as a person who hailed 'Sholay' and held entire audiences mesmerised with his performances. Certainly, in 'Sholay' he gave one such performance. The highlight of his moment was when he was on top of that tank, and he carried that moment, at least half of it was him in reality. He just let go of himself."
