Sebastian Stan confirms role in The Batman Part II, says film will blow people away
Sebastian Stan confirmed his role in the upcoming superhero film The Batman: Part II. He said the Matt Reeves directorial is ambitious, demanding and could surprise audiences.

Actor Sebastian Stan has confirmed he will join Robert Pattinson in the upcoming superhero sequel, The Batman: Part II. Speaking about the DC action-thriller, Stan, who is expected to play the villain, Harvey Dent, described the project as an "ambitious" film that presents a significant creative "challenge."
In an interview with Deadline, Stan said the film would demand a great deal and expressed enthusiasm about working with director Matt Reeves. He also said he believed the film would surprise audiences if it came together in the way the team intended.
Stan said, "The Batman: Part II would be a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves (directing) because he’s been one of my favourites for a long, long time — I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too."
Reflecting on the continued relevance of Batman films, Stan said, "Obviously there’s a reason why Batman's been re-occurring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man."
The actor also spoke about the subtle impact superheroes can have on teenagers, particularly young men.
"When you’re thinking of, honestly, just anything positive for young men. If you’re a teenager and you’re growing up and you’re watching that, it’s about a kid being odd and figuring his way into things. And it works in very subtle ways," Stan said.
Actor and Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson recently joined the cast of The Batman: Part II. The screenplay of the film has been written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin.
The returning cast includes Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (also known as Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
Sebastian Stan was last seen in Marvel's Thunderbolts (2025). He will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday (2026), directed by Russo brothers and in the thriller Fjord.
