If you have been waiting for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, the first ticket update for India is now in place. Warner Bros Discovery India has said Indian fans will be among the first in the world to secure their seats for the film's IMAX run ahead of its theatrical release next year.

That booking window will open on June 8. The Odyssey is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on July 17, 2026, with the India release set for all formats. The rollout is being positioned as a major moment for Nolan and IMAX, as the film has been shot across the world using new IMAX film technology and is described as the first feature film made entirely with IMAX cameras.

Denzil Dias, Vice President and Managing Director, Warner Bros. Discovery India, said in a statement, "The Odyssey is the first film in cinema history to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras, a milestone Christopher Nolan spent nearly twenty years working toward."

"On June 8, for the first time in India, Nolan fans will be amongst the first in the world to be able to book their favourite seats alongside their fellow Christopher Nolan fans around the world. For Nolan fans in India, this is a moment worth marking. For the first time, they book their seats alongside the rest of the world, for the first film in history made entirely on IMAX cameras," he added.

The story, cast and new footage

Written and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan, the film adapts Homer's epic tale of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his dangerous journey home after the fall of Troy. Matt Damon leads the film as Odysseus, with Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope.

The cast also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal. Material released around the film has identified Pattinson as Antinous, Zendaya as Athena and Theron as Circe.

The new trailer for the film centres on Odysseus and includes a confrontation with the Cyclops. It is intercut with scenes in Ithaca, where Antinous is seen attempting to claim the throne. The trailer debuted during an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The Odyssey is Nolan's 13th feature film as director. It has been produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under their banner Syncopy. Universal Pictures India is releasing the film, with distribution by Warner Bros. Discovery.
