Is Bhumi Pednekar the next big thing in Bollywood?

In the winter of 2015, filmmaker Sharat Katariya gave Bollywood one of his biggest finds - Bhumi Pednekar. She was a revelation in her Bollywood debut Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

When many B-Town actors would have easily refuted the offer to gain almost 50kgs for a role, Bhumi took the challenge, and as they say, the rest is history.

And two years after her debut, Bhumi is set to return to the big screen with two releases this year - Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.

If one of her films wages a war against open defecation, the other one talks openly about erectile dysfunction.

Unlike her contemporaries, Bhumi is not restricting herself to the usual masala or romcom films, instead the 28-year-old actor is busy carving a niche for herself by picking up roles that are not only unconventional but also interesting.

If Toilet Ek Prem Katha has already grabbed eyeballs for its quirky plot, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is no less. Bhumi should be given full marks for picking up interesting projects.

Before the release of her two films, Bhumi has already grabbed her fourth project. She will be seen opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Abhishek Chaubey's next which revolves around Chambal dacoits and is set in the 1970s. Going by the list of her projects, Bhumi is one actor we are so looking forward to.
