Suchi Leaks to Amy Jackson's leaked personal photos: Biggest scandals from down South in 2017
It was indeed a scandalous year for film industries down South. With nude pics of actresses being leaked to leading stars of Tollywood interrogated in a drug bust, we take a look at the biggest scandals that shook film industries in the South this year.
Suchi Leaks:
Many scandalous pics and tweets poured in from the official Twitter handle of popular singer Suchitra aka Suchi. The photos and a video went viral on social media, and in no time, the hashtag #SuchiLeaks began topping the trends. Suchi later claimed that her account was hacked and she was not the one behind the leaked pics and tweets.
However, the damage was already done! The series of tweets started with Suchi (or the person who had hacked into her account) accusing Dhanush's men of manhandling her. Some serious allegations were then made against Dhanush and his friends. The tweets hinted at affairs between actresses like Trisha, Andrea, Dhivyadharshini and Amala Paul with many actors. Suchi's husband jumped in and tried some damage-control and claimed that Suchi was not keeping well mentally and apologised on her behalf.
Tweets from Suchi's account took went on to become even nastier. Explicit pictures of a few upcoming actress were tweeted out. A nude picture and a video of allegedly featuring actress Sanchita Shetty was also released from the account. However, Sanchita took to Twitter and claimed that she was not behind the posts.
She wrote, "Hi, everyone. I am very much aware what is happening from yesterday in social media. I want to clarify one thing to all my fans and who are all loving me. Those pictures which are circulating in social media are not mine and thanks for your love and support. (sic)"
Amy Jackson's phone got hacked!
Britain-born actress Amy Jackson's phone was hacked and a couple of her personal pictures were released online. The actress, who was at the Mumbai airport to catch a connecting flight to Chennai, spent some time in a mobile store and it is speculated that her phone was hacked there. The actress claimed that it was a serious issue and that she would make sure that the miscreants were found and punished.
Is Tollywood high on drugs?
After a drug bust by the Telangana Excise (Enforcement) Department, many Tollywood celebrities were brought in for questioning. It was alleged that a drug-dealer gang had been supplying drugs like lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) to many Tollywood celebrities. Director Puri Jagannath, actress Charmme Kaur, Ravi Teja, Navdeep, and Mumaith Khan were among the 12 celebrities who were allegedly interrogated by the officials. It was said that the contacts of many celebrities were found on the mobile phone of Calvin Mascarenhas, the kingpin of the drug gang.
It was Nithyananda all along!
In 2010, a video of godman Nithyananda rocked the state of Tamil Nadu. The godman, nicknamed 'Sex Swami', was seen in a compromising position with actress Ranjitha in the video. The video was aired on many TV channels down South, but Nithyananda claimed that he was not the one in the video and claimed that it was a morphed one. However, after seven years, the Central Forensic Lab in Delhi revealed that the video is authentic and that it was Nithyananda and Ranjitha in the video.
Sanjjanna Galrani's nude video goes viral
Actress Sanjjanna Galrani, the elder sister of Nikki Galrani, made headlines when a nude video supposedly featuring her got leaked online. The video was part of the Kannada film Dandupalya 2, and the filmmakers and Sanjjanna were shocked to see it going viral on the internet. However, the actress later claimed that it was she in the video, but she was not nude when the scene was shot. She held that she was draped in a towel during the shoot, but using colour-grading effects, it was made to look like she was not wearing clothes. She told a newspaper, "I am appalled at how the scene has been circulated by people and has been shown repeatedly on media platforms. It shocks me that people want to share content like this among themselves."
