Kayal fame TV actor Subashini dies by suicide in Chennai; investigation underway

Actor Subashini, known for her role in the popular Tamil television serial Kayal, died by suicide in Chennai, leaving the industry and her fans in shock.

Subashini, who had Sri Lankan origins, was residing in an apartment in Iyyappanthangal when the incident occurred. Upon receiving information, police officials rushed to the spot and sent her body for medical examination. A detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is currently underway.

Initial reports suggest that the actor may have been in distress prior to the incident. It is being reported that she had an argument with her husband over a video call, with officers indicating that emotional distress could have contributed to her taking the extreme step. However, officials are continuing to probe all angles before arriving at a conclusion.

Known onscreen as Shaashvi Bala, Subashini was widely recognised for playing the antagonist in the TV show Kayal. The news of her death has deeply saddened her co-actors, many of whom expressed their grief on social media.

Apart from television, she had also appeared in films such as Ellaam Mela Irukuravan Paathuppan (2023) and Web (2023). Subashini would often share photos with her husband Bibin Chandra on social media, accompanied by heartfelt captions. Following the incident, several of their pictures have resurfaced online.
