Chiranjeevi joins industry in slamming Jana Nayagan leak: Kill piracy, save cinema
Actors Chiranjeevi, Sivakarthikeyan and other industry peers called for strict action against Jana Nayagan piracy. The film, featuring Vijay in the lead role, is yet to be cleared by CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).

Actor Vijay's upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, which is his last before he fully enters politics, has encountered further delays following the film's leak online. Actors Chiranjeevi Sivakarthikeyan and other industry peers condemned the leak and mentioned how film privacy impacts the hard-work of "hundreds of people."
Chiranjeevi expressed disappointment over Jana Nayagan's leak on his X handle. His post read, "The unfortunate leak of #Jananayagan is something that deeply concerns me. Cinema is built on trust, effort, and the collective dreams of many. Such incidents affect all of us in the industry and remind us how crucial it is to protect our creative work (sic)."
"My thoughts and support are with the movie team. Let us all take responsibility to respect and protect cinema. Kill Piracy. Save Cinema (sic)."
Actor Sivakarthikeyan expressed concern on his Instagram stories, emphasising the effort behind film production: "Every film is made with the passion, blood and sweat of hundreds of people - please avoid piracy. Kindly wait for the theatrical release and watch it in theatres. Whoever is responsible for this must face strict action. Respect the talents. Respect the hard work. Respect the industry...#JanaNayagan...(sic)."
Actor Sibi Sathyaraj on X, mentioned that he was shocked over the Jana Nayagan leak. He wrote, "Shocked and disturbed to hear about footage being leaked from #JanaNayagan! Whoever did this must understand the money, effort and hard work involved in making a film. I sincerely request everyone to refrain from watching and spreading the videos (sic)."
Actor and musician Vijay Tony requested everyone on X to "support the film through legal platforms during its release (sic)."
Actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, on his X handle urged people not to promote or encourage film piracy. His post read, "Someone’s dream is bleeding online Please let’s not turn their hard work into a forwarded clip Let’ the film breathe on screen and not die on your phone (folded hands emoji) (sic)."
Producer-author G Dhananjheyan referred to the leaked footage as a cinema gamble. He wrote, "#JanaNayagan full film leaked online by some rogues clearly establishes what @Dir_dsk says #CinemaisaGamble more than an art, in this interview. A few win with everything falling in place and most lose out despite their sincere attempt. Very sad state and many enter without understanding this reality...(sic)."
According to social media claims, the footage is believed to have been obtained from the editing room. Jana Nayagan producers are yet to issue an official statement. The piracy has added to the challenges surrounding the film’s release, with no official update from the production team as yet.
The film was originally scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, but remains stuck without CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) clearance even after four months.
