What did Kamal Haasan say after meeting Vijay?

In his post, Kamal Haasan described Vijay’s approach during the meeting as humble and affectionate. He said the newly elected Chief Minister spoke enthusiastically about his plans for Tamil Nadu’s development.

Haasan also reiterated that Vijay should not only be viewed as a film star. “He has other responsibilities as well,” he had said earlier while reacting to Vijay’s political rise. The actor-politician added that it was a matter of pride for the Tamil film industry to see one of its own become Chief Minister.

What are the six demands linked to the Tamil film industry?

While Kamal Haasan did not publicly disclose the details of the six demands, he stressed that the Tamil film industry was currently dealing with several challenges and needed policy-level support from the government.

His latest remarks have sparked discussion within the industry, especially at a time when several producers and exhibitors have raised concerns about rising operational pressures and theatrical business.

Why did Kamal Haasan praise Vijay’s government earlier?

Before the meeting, Kamal Haasan had publicly supported Vijay government’s decision to shut 717 liquor outlets located near temples, schools, colleges and bus stands across Tamil Nadu.

Calling the move “welcome” and “appreciable”, Haasan said governments should focus on regulating alcohol consumption rather than treating liquor sales as a state function. He also urged the administration to continue reducing the number of such outlets in the future.

Vijay’s party, TVK, formed the government after securing majority through coalition in the 234-member Assembly, marking a big political shift in Tamil Nadu politics.
