Karuppu box office Day 6: Suriya film beats Retro, nears Rs 200 crore mark globally
Suriya's Karuppu crossed Rs 175.96 crore worldwide on its sixth day in theatres. The Tamil version led collections as the film sustained strong audience support despite mixed reviews.
Suriya's latest release, Karuppu, continued its strong run at the box office and crossed the Rs 175 crore-mark worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. The fantasy action drama, which also stars Trisha Krishnan in a key role, has continued to draw audiences across major markets.
Karuppu has also reportedly emerged as the highest-grossing film of Suriya's career in the last five years, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Retro.
According to tracking website Sacnilk, Karuppu collected Rs 10.30 crore nett in India on Day 6. This was a 19.2 per cent drop from Day 5, when the film had earned Rs 12.75 crore nett.
Strong occupancy across markets
The film was screened across 6,194 shows nationwide on Wednesday and continued to record encouraging occupancy, especially during the evening and night shows. With its latest earnings, its India nett collection has reached Rs 105.35 crore, while the domestic gross total stands at Rs 121.96 crore.
The film also added an estimated Rs 3 crore from overseas territories on Day 6, taking its international gross collection to Rs 54 crore. Its worldwide gross collection has now climbed to Rs 175.96 crore.
Tamil version leads collections
The Tamil version remained the film's biggest contributor on Wednesday, collecting Rs 8.55 crore nett from 4,429 shows with an occupancy of nearly 35 per cent. The Telugu version earned Rs 1.75 crore nett from 1,765 shows and recorded an occupancy of 22 per cent.
Karuppu has also reportedly emerged as the highest-grossing film of Suriya's career, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Retro. The film has continued to receive audience support at the box office despite mixed critical reception.
Directed by RJ Balaji and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu also stars Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Sshivada, Yogi Babu and Swasika, among others.
With Rs 175.96 crore gross worldwide, a solid Day 6 hold and strong support for its Tamil version, Karuppu has maintained its box office momentum and added another milestone to Suriya's career.
