Mohanlal flags drug menace in Keralam at Chief Minister VD Satheesan's felicitation
At a felicitation event for Keralam Chief Minister VD Satheesan, Mohanlal warned that drugs had reached the gates of children's schools. He urged the government to act with an iron fist and said it had the strength to do so.

Actor Mohanlal raised concerns over the growing drug menace in Keralam while attending a felicitation event for newly-elected Chief Minister VD Satheesan, saying the issue had reached the gates of children’s schools. He said the menace could be eradicated if the government fought it with an iron fist and unwavering determination.
Addressing a gathering in Kerala's Paravur later in the day, Mohanlal also extended support to the chief minister and his government. He spoke about Satheesan’s sincerity and transparency, and said he hoped his ideas would help the growth of the state.
Mohanlal about drug menace in Keralam
Speaking at the event, Mohanlal said, “If we can help improve the roads that kill and the filth that destroys that land, we can do great things. Another thing: drugs. 'Narcotics is a dirty business,' says one of my characters (His mass dialogue in Irupathaam Noottandu and later in Lucifer). Drugs are still flowing through Keralam. It's even found in the surroundings of our schoolchildren. If the (state) government stand strong with unwavering determination and an iron fist, I am sure we can wipe this disease of narcotic drugs. I believe this government has that kind of strength.”
Mohanlal extends support to Kerala government
Addressing the gathering in Paravur, Mohanlal said, “Maybe this was the first time we witnessed people in Kerala strongly backing a person for the chief minister’s position."
He added, “Sincerity and transparency are two qualities evident in Satheesan sir. He is a lucky CM of a blessed state. Satheesan, who is a Nehruvian socialist, should also be a dreamer like Nehru. I hope his ideas would help in the growth of the state,” he said.
Mohanlal was last seen in director Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam 3, which grossed over Rs 141 crore globally in four days. He will be seen next in a cameo role in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, Khalifa: Part 1 - The Intro, Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer and Thudakkam. He also has Athimanoharam and a film with director Sathyan Anthikad in the pipeline.
