Peddi director Buchi Babu Sana addressed rumours surrounding a shocking scene in the film, clarifying that there is no sequence involving Ram Charan's character losing a body part.

The team has intensified promotions for the pan-Indian film after the trailer's release on May 18. His reaction came as the trailer opened the floodgates for reactions and discussions on social media.

During an interview with Great Andhra, responding to comparisons with his debut film Uppena, where the protagonist loses a body part, the director denied that a similar plot point exists in Peddi. When asked whether something similar happens in Peddi, he replied, “Nothing like that will be there. Whatever is there, you will experience it on the big screen. The thrill will work only in theatres.”

Rumours circulating online had claimed that Ram Charan’s character, Peddi Raju, a labourer and sportsman, would lose his leg. The speculation gained traction largely because Uppena featured a similar emotional twist that became central to its narrative impact. Many fans had even praised Ram Charan for allegedly choosing such a bold subject if the rumours were true.

However, Buchi Babu’s clarification appears to have put an end to the discussions, while also increasing curiosity around what the film actually holds.

Meanwhile, the trailer presents Ram Charan as Peddi, a village sporting icon and leader caught in larger social conflicts. Set against a rural backdrop, the film blends cricket, wrestling, sprinting, and action drama, positioning the character as both an athlete and protector of his people.

The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma, Ravi Kishan, and Boman Irani, with music composed by AR Rahman. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is scheduled to release on June 4 in multiple languages.
