Actor Suriya drew attention at the pre-release event of Veerabhadrudu, the Telugu dubbed version of his Tamil film Karuppu, after a video of his interaction with a fan went viral online. During the event, a fan ran towards him to hug him, fell at his feet and attempted to take a selfie, prompting security personnel to intervene.

As security tried to pull the fan away, Suriya stopped them, called the fan back and posed for a picture with him. The moment was widely shared online, with fans praising the actor’s gesture. The event was also attended by Suriya’s younger brother, Karthi, who has often spoken about the close bond he shares with him.

Suriya is now preparing for the release of Veerabhadrudu (Karuppu in Tamil), which is directed by RJ Balaji and stars Trisha Krishnan as the female lead. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on May 14, and is expected to open on a large scale in the Telugu states.

The action drama revolves around a powerful man taking on injustice in a corrupt society. Going by the trailer, the film combines courtroom drama with village-based mass action, a space many fans have wanted to see Suriya return to for years.
