Suriya's upcoming action drama Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, has cleared the censor process with a U/A certificate ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on May 14. The film has generated strong interest since its teaser and other promotional videos were released online, with actor Trisha starring as the female lead.
The film also marks Suriya and Trisha's reunion after many years, adding to the attention around the release. Sharing the certification update online, the makers wrote, "#Karuppu censored with a UA, blasting the screens worldwide from MAY 14TH (sic)." The team is currently engaged in promotional activities for the film.

Promotional material released so far suggests that Suriya plays an advocate named Saravanan, who turns to divine justice when legal methods fail him. The story is also said to revolve around the village deity Karuppasamy, adding an emotional and action-driven layer to the film.
Apart from Suriya and Trisha, the film features Yogi Babu, Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam, Supreeth Reddy and Anagha Maya Ravi in key roles.
