Rupee falls to a record low, should India be worried?

Closing at 81.94 per US dollar, the Rupee hit a fresh record low against the dollar on Wednesday. It is the fourth time in five sessions that the local unit has notched up it worst level against the dollar ever, dropping to almost 82 from 80 in a space of a week. While economists who advise the government say that the Indian currency has at least fared better than other global currencies like the British Pound and the Euro, is there really nothing to worry about? Video: Vijay swears in as Tamil Nadu CM amid roars, chants of frenzied crowd

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
