Bengaluru riots: Was accused Naveen working at behest of any party?

The violence in Bengaluru's DJ Halli and adjoining areas on Tuesday night was unleashed by hundreds of people over an inflammatory social media post allegedly put out by P Naveen, a relative of Pulakeshinagar MLA R Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy of Congress. Questions have been raised over Naveen's political affiliations. Since his social media post and comments showed him supporting the BJP as well as the Congress at various points of time, a political row has erupted with leaders speculating if Naveen is a BJP agent or Congress supporter.

Meanwhile, projecting the incident as an attack on a Dalit MLA, several BJP leaders accusing the Congress of indulging in "appeasement politics" have questioned the grand old party's hesitation to condemn riots by "minority groups" on the residence of its own legislator. Also, Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka on Friday said the state government was taking steps towards banning SDPI, following its "direct involvement" in the recent violence in the city, and all the required information is being collected in this connection.
