India-Italy closer than ever: Meloni; PM to review impact of West Asia tensions; more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Italy on the last leg of a five-nation tour, held bilateral talks with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni on defence cooperation, maritime security, and technological advancements. During the joint press conference, PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that India and Italy have agreed to elevate their relations to a “Special Strategic Partnership” and expand cooperation across trade, investment, defence and emerging technologies following bilateral talks in Rome. PM Meloni described PM Modi’s visit as a “historic day” for India-Italy relations and added that both nations are closer than ever. 

Meanwhile, after his return from the five-nation tour, PM Modi will review the economic impact of the West Asia conflict, monitor inflation, supply chain disruptions, and fuel price hikes. Simultaneously, the Education Ministry directed tech platforms to block social media channels spreading misinformation ahead of a major undergraduate medical re-examination. This re-examination has created a financial burden for students while increasing revenue for coaching centers through crash courses.
