Truce on paper, tensions on ground: Will West Asia diplomacy hold or fail?

Despite a 14-day ceasefire between the US and Iran, Tehran has reportedly shut the Strait of Hormuz following Israeli strikes in Lebanon, a move the White House has termed unacceptable. US Vice President JD Vance clarified that Lebanon is not part of the agreement, contradicting claims from Pakistan. Former NATO Deputy Commander General Sir Richard Shirreff described the situation as a strategic failure for the US administration. 

And in national news, high voter turnout was witnessed in assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. Assam recorded approximately 84% polling amid a personal campaign between Himanta Biswa Sarma and Gaurav Gogoi, while Kerala saw a three-cornered contest with 75% turnout. In Puducherry, turnout reached 87% despite clashes between Congress and BJP workers.
