Iran claims US fighter jet shot down; India commissions nuclear submarine INS Aridhaman

Iran claimed that an American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down over its southern Iranian territory on Friday. According to Iranian media, an American fighter pilot may be in the custody of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The incident triggered a combat search and rescue mission involving HC-130J Combat King II and HH-60W aircraft to locate the missing crew. This escalation follows coordinated strikes on Iranian infrastructure and retaliatory drone attacks on Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi refinery. Concurrently, India bolstered its maritime deterrence by commissioning two major indigenous warships at Visakhapatnam. The Indian Navy inducted its third nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Aridhaman, alongside the Project 17A stealth frigate, INS Taragiri. Equipped with K-4, K-15, and BrahMos missiles, these platforms strengthen India’s nuclear triad and second-strike capability. While regional tensions threaten international shipping routes, Indian commercial vessels continue to navigate the Strait of Hormuz.
