India on Wednesday recorded its highest single-day toll of 4,529 Covid deaths. The country recorded 2,67,334 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total case tally in the country to 2,54,96,330. With a fresh jump of over 2.67 lakh Covid-19 cases, the active caseload in the country now stands at 32,26,719. India has the second-highest caseload after the US. As many as 3,89,851 discharges have been made in the last 24 hours, which is more than the daily cases reported.
Meanwhile, Singapore on Wednesday refuted claims by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that a new Covid strain has been found in Singapore which is dangerous for children. Singapore health ministry said that there was no truth in Kejriwal’s assertion. Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to the Centre to cancel all flights to and from Singapore, citing concerns over a new strain of coronavirus that is said to be dangerous for children.
