Lipstick Under My Burkha, directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and produced under director Prakash Jha's banner, has been denied a certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The censor board has refused the film a certificate on the grounds that the film is 'lady oriented' among many other things.
While the director slammed the CBFC's move and attributed it to pure gender politics, CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani has yet again raked up controversy with his comment.
"We have issued show cause notice to the producer. Now it is their call whether they want to go to the court or FCAT. It is a unanimous decision," Nihalani said.
