JNU violence: Security beefed up outside campus, JNUSU calls V-C mobster

After violence by masked mob, massive deployment of security personnel remained in place on Monday at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), with authorities only allowing students with valid ID cards inside the campus.

Meanwhile, JNU students'union (JNUSU) has issued a statement hitting out at the JNU V-C over his statement on the violence last night. The statement reads, "The Vice-Chancellor of the university M Jagadesh Kumar is behaving like a mobster who perpetuates violence in the university he is supposed to administer..."

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony.
