Tussle for power continues in Maharashtra, Delhi chokes as stubble burning remains unabated, more

Even after two weeks since the Maharashtra assembly election results were declared, power tussle continues between Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. BJP, after refusing to accept the demands of its disgruntled ally, Shiv Sena, is going to meet the governor today. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena has made a sensational claim accusing BJP of poaching MLAs.

In other news, the Supreme Court has come down heavily on Delhi's neighbouring states, Punjab Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for failing to curb stubble burning. The apex court told the states that self-declared bankruptcy cannot be an excuse to neglect the situation at hand.

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
