Riding on the back of success in Bihar assembly polls, where it won five seats, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced that his party would now contest the assembly elections in Bengal too.

Asaduddin Owaisi further announced that his party would contest the elections with Abbas Siddiqui, a religious leader from the popular Muslim pilgrimage site of Furfura Sharif.
