LPG shortage sparks Parliament row; Opposition slams govt, BJP calls it fear-mongering

The LPG shortage has erupted into a full-blown political flashpoint in Parliament, with Opposition parties accusing the government of failing to anticipate and manage the crisis.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticised the government, questioning why India would allow another nation to be permitted to buy Russian oil. The Speaker stopped Gandhi when he attempted to bring up the Epstein controversy.

The government insists the situation is being blown out of proportion, with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stating that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, or fuel oil, and that retail outlets across the country are stocked. Political leaders across the country have begun raising alarm, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accusing the centre of a lack of planning to deal with the unfolding fuel crisis.
