The NDA has strengthened its position in the Rajya Sabha following elections for 37 seats across 10 states. Contests for 11 seats occurred in Bihar, Haryana, and Odisha, while 26 seats were filled unopposed. In West Bengal, the political focus shifts to the upcoming assembly elections, with the BJP releasing its initial candidate list. Suvendu Adhikari is slated to contest from both Nandigram and Bhavanipur. Adhikari previously defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram in the 2021 election. Following the announcement of poll dates, the Election Commission of India initiated a significant administrative reshuffle in West Bengal, replacing top officials including the DGP and Chief Secretary, a move the TMC called an abuse of power. Voting is scheduled for April 23 and 29, with vote counting on May 4.

The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
