Auqib Nabi finally makes IPL debut for DC, Dewald Brevis returns for CSK
Auqib Nabi finally gets the chance to make his IPL debut for DC as he is part of the lineup to face off against CSK at the Chepauk on Saturday, April 11.
The wait is over for Auqib Nabi as he prepares to make his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in their match against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk stadium on Saturday, April 11. The home side will welcome the return of South African star Dewald Brevis, who is set to play his first game of the season after recovering from injury.
Nabi was a standout performer in the Ranji Trophy this season, helping Jammu and Kashmir secure their maiden title. His all-round performances persuaded Delhi Capitals to invest Rs. 8.4 crore to acquire him at the IPL 2026 auction.
For the clash at Chepauk, the Delhi Capitals have made two changes to their playing XI. Nabi replaces Vipraj Nigam, while Ashutosh Sharma comes in for Nitish Rana.
Nabi arrived for his first IPL season riding a phenomenal domestic run. He dominated the Ranji Trophy with a 60-wicket haul and capped it off with a decisive spell in the final, guiding Jammu and Kashmir to their maiden title against a star-studded Karnataka side.
Despite this, DC have been cautious in their approach with the all-rounder, ensuring that he was up to pace before getting his chance in the league.
CSK MAKE TWO CHANGES
For CSK, the big relief will be seeing Brevis back in the lineup as they chase their first win of the season. The South African was sidelined from the first three games due to a side strain. With him returning, Matt Henry makes the way for Brevis, with Gurjapneet Singh also making his CSK debut.
There is still no MS Dhoni for Chennai, who Ruturaj said that will be hopefully on the field soon.
"He's at the hotel watching us play and supporting us. Soon, really soon, hopefully, he will be on the ground," said Ruturaj at the toss.
