Well, that wasn't the start everyone was hoping for when it comes to the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 as confusion took centre stage at the toss. Rajasthan Royals won the toss in Mullanpur, but it only happened after a re-spin.
RR vs GT, IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 Updates
Shubman Gill was the one spinning the coin, but Riyan Parag's call wasn't loud enough for the match referee Prakash Bhatt and it left everyone stunned. Ravi Shastri, who was handling the broadcasting duties, suddenly announced that the toss would happen again. This time around, the toss happened and went in favour of RR, who decided to bat first.
Gill looked a bit frustrated by what transpired at the toss, saying that he would have opted to bat as well and said it was unfortunate that the match referee couldn't hear the call. First time, the toss had gone in favour of GT as it fell on tails after Riyan called heads.
"We would have batted first. 40 overs of play have already happened (on this pitch). I don't think it would change much. Unfortunately, I don't think the referee heard the call from Riyan," said Gill at the toss.
