Why wasn't Cameron Green trusted with final over vs GT? Ajinkya Rahane responds

KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane revealed why Cameron Green wasn't trusted with the final over against GT. Green was the saviour for Kolkata with the bat as he released some of the price-tag pressure with a 55-ball 79 in Ahmedabad. However, the Australian all-rounder wasn't trusted with the ball, especially in the final over.

GT looked set to be well on their way to secure the win, but KKR were able to push things to the final over with Gujarat needing five off six balls. But Rahane turned to Ramandeep Singh with the ball, and he was unable to defend it despite picking the wicket of Glenn Phillips.

Speaking after the loss, Rahane said that Green was struggling with cramps and he was in and out of the field during the match.

"He was actually struggling with his cramps, that's the reason he didn't bowl. He was in and out of the field during the 2nd Innings," said Rahane.

Despite their fifth loss in the six games, Rahane looked at the positives from the game and praised Green for his knock under pressure and how the bowlers were able to push things into the final over.

"Yeah, as you said. It's never easy after losing a game and then come here to talk about the game. I just want to talk about the positive things that we did tonight especially the way we started after being 2-3 wickets down. Cameron's Green innings tonight was outstanding under pressure," said Rahane.

"He played an amazing counter-attacking innings by taking on their bowlers which was amazing to see. From being at 147/4 to end up with 180 was slightly difficult from our batters but credit to our bowlers as they managed to take the game to the last over. Everyone contributed well."

'BE IN THE MOMENT'

With just one point from six games, KKR are now on the brink and staring at an early elimination from the tournament. Despite this, Rahane said that he wants the side to be in the moment and go out and enjoy the game.

"I think it's all about being in the moment. When things are not going your way, you have to be in the moment. I want the boys to just try and go out there, enjoy the game, back yourselves as a unit and then control the things which you can control. We wanted to be aggressive today, be positive from ball number one," said Rahane.

KKR will now head back to the Eden Gardens where they will face RR in their next game on Sunday, April 19.
