Vaibhav Sooryavanshi injured? RR coach provides positive update after SRH scare
IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi walked off with a hamstring problem during Rajasthan Royals' match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Vikram Rathour later said the issue did not appear serious, easing immediate concern for Rajasthan.

There was a brief moment of concern for Rajasthan Royals when their teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi limped off the field during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur. The 15-year-old, who had earlier lit up the game with a stunning century, appeared in discomfort while fielding and had to leave the field midway through the innings.
However, there was relief soon after the match. RR batting coach Vikram Rathour provided a reassuring update, suggesting that the injury might not be serious.

“He was feeling something in his hamstring but now he’s looking okay. They’ve treated him, so he’s looking fine. We’ll know in a day or so but doesn’t look like anything serious,” Rathour said in the post-match press conference.
The update comes as a big boost for Rajasthan, especially after Sooryavanshi’s match-defining contribution earlier in the evening.
HOW DID SOORYAVANSHI GET INJURED?
The incident took place early in the second innings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. While chasing down a ball towards the boundary in the fourth over of SRH’s innings, Sooryavanshi suddenly pulled up and was seen clutching his hamstring.
He immediately signalled discomfort and was attended to by the physio before being helped off the field. Initial visuals suggested either a hamstring strain or severe cramping, raising concerns given his young age and heavy workload.
The timing of the injury made it even more dramatic. Just minutes earlier, Sooryavanshi had produced one of the standout performances of IPL 2026.
Batting first, the 15-year-old smashed a breathtaking century, reaching the milestone in just 36 balls. It was his second IPL hundred and also saw him become the youngest player to cross 1000 T20 runs. His innings powered Rajasthan Royals to a total in excess of 220, setting the platform for a strong showing at home.
While he could not return to the field after the injury, Rathour’s update has eased immediate fears. For now, it appears to be more of a precautionary exit rather than a long-term concern, with the team set to assess him further in the coming days.
