KKR did not support me: Bangladesh's Litton Das makes bold claim on IPL stint
Bangladesh star Litton Das has criticised Kolkata Knight Riders over a lack of communication and support during his brief IPL stint, saying he was informed of his debut only hours before the match.

Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has made candid remarks about his brief and disappointing stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2023 season, claiming the franchise failed to communicate clearly and did not offer the support he expected during his time with the team.
Speaking on Bangladesh Cricket’s Char Chokka podcast, Litton reflected on his short-lived IPL experience and suggested he never truly felt part of the setup.
“I felt KKR didn’t really need me that much,” Litton said. “The team also didn’t support me the way I expected.”
The Bangladesh international revealed that his inclusion in the playing XI came without any prior indication, leaving him scrambling to prepare at the last minute.
“Usually, a player is informed before a match that they will be playing the next day, or something along those lines. I had been sitting out for two matches, and there was no such discussion with me at all,” Litton said.
“Suddenly, at 11 PM, I got a message saying, ‘You will play.’ I tried with whatever energy I had. In cricket, sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they don’t. That day just wasn’t mine.”
Litton Das' only IPL game
Litton had joined KKR after being picked up for his base price of Rs 50 lakh, with expectations surrounding his ability to strengthen the side’s batting and wicketkeeping options. However, his IPL journey lasted just one match.
His lone appearance came against Delhi Capitals, where he opened the batting but managed only four runs from four deliveries. It proved to be a forgettable outing, with Litton also enduring a difficult evening behind the stumps after missing two stumping chances that proved costly as KKR slipped to defeat.
Following that match, Litton was dropped from the playing XI and did not feature again before returning to Bangladesh early due to personal family reasons. KKR went on to endure an inconsistent campaign, eventually finishing seventh in the standings and missing out on the playoffs.
The franchise responded to that disappointing season with sweeping structural changes, including the return of Gautam Gambhir in a mentorship role. The move transformed KKR’s fortunes, with the side bouncing back to win their third IPL title the following season. Litton, however, had already been released and later went unsold at auction.
Why don't Bangladesh players take part in IPL?
Bangladesh’s representation in the IPL has remained limited in recent years. Ahead of the 2026 season, Mustafizur Rahman was the only Bangladeshi player picked at auction after being signed by KKR for Rs 9.20 crore. However, his participation became a major talking point amid political controversy, and he was eventually released before the tournament began.
