What a composed chase from DC, and what a statement knock from Sameer Rizvi. Walking in under pressure, he absorbed the early squeeze, trusted his game, and then shifted gears at just the right time.

The finish with a six was fitting for an innings built on temperament and awareness. LSG had their moments with the ball, but lapses in discipline and fielding hurt them.

In the end, DC showed greater clarity in execution, holding their nerve when it mattered most and closing out the game with authority.

Well said. Sameer Rizvi has played a gem here under pressure. Came in when DC were in trouble, took his time early on, and then shifted gears brilliantly once set.

That’s a knock full of maturity and composure.

That’s a remarkable stat doing the rounds. Mohammed Shami has built quite the reputation for striking right at the start of an innings.

Five times now he’s taken a wicket on the very first ball in the IPL, including dismissing KL Rahul twice. It’s not just skill, but that ability to be switched on from ball one that sets him apart.

Big-game bowler, and he keeps proving it with moments like these.

This is turning into a proper counterattack from Sameer Rizvi. He’s brought up a fine fifty here, and it’s been a knock full of character. Came in as an impact sub with the team under pressure, struggled early, but has paced this beautifully and is now accelerating with confidence.

Aiden Markram is feeling the heat as the fifth bowler, with Rizvi taking him on. That six over wide long-on was clean as it gets, followed by a cracking cut shot to reach his fifty. Once he found his rhythm, there’s been no stopping him.

The partnership is building nicely with Tristan Stubbs playing his role, rotating strike and keeping things ticking.

There’s also a tactical twist now with the ball change coming into play after 10 overs. Rishabh Pant having a quick word with Markram suggests LSG are looking for a way to break this stand, because right now, DC are clawing their way right back into this contest.

A sharp observation from Aakash Chopra. The last-minute switch to bring in Tristan Stubbs meant Hemang Badani had to make that extra run out before the batter walked in.

It might seem like a small detail, but in a pressure situation, even these little disruptions can affect flow and readiness. Smart pick-up.

That’s some serious depth in the LSG pace ranks. Mohammed Shami, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan and the emerging names all in the mix.

On paper, it looks stacked, maybe even overloaded. The real challenge is managing opportunities and roles. You can already see how someone like Mayank Yadav might start questioning game time if this continues.

Angry Rishabh Pant is always box office. He was absolutely fuming there after that poor start from Shahbaz Ahmed, and you can see the intensity lift instantly when he’s in that mood.

That’s the end of Mohammed Shami’s spell, and this is where things get interesting for LSG. They now have to juggle their bowling resources smartly.

Four overs still need to come from spin, which puts the spotlight on how they manage this phase. Do they trust their slower options to hold things together, or lean into pace and try to force the issue?

This next stretch could well decide how this game tilts.

Shami is hitting his straps, Mohsin continues to apply the squeeze, and Prince Yadav is chipping in with key breakthroughs. This is exactly how LSG would have envisioned their bowling unit functioning, with control, discipline and timely strikes all coming together.

That’s sloppy from LSG, and it’s starting to add up. They’ve already conceded over a dozen extras, and moments like this in the field only pile on the pressure.

It’s the kind of lapse that can come back to haunt you in a tight game. Just a bit more awareness and sharpness in the field would go a long way for the hosts right now.

There’s a real heaviness to the ball when Mohsin Khan hits the deck, and it’s making life difficult out there. Both Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi are finding it tough to free their arms, unable to get any fluency into their strokeplay.

This is exactly the kind of squeeze LSG would have wanted at this stage. They’ve slowed things down and built pressure nicely.

The next phase will be crucial though. How LSG manage their spin options could define this passage, and someone like Aiden Markram could well chip in with a useful over to keep the control intact.

This is turning into absolute chaos from LSG, and Prince Yadav is right at the centre of it. One ball he sprays it wide, the next he strikes, and it’s been that kind of over on repeat.

He’s now removed Sameer Rizvi and Axar Patel, swinging momentum firmly in LSG’s favour. Unpredictable, but undeniably effective.

There’s also a bit of needle creeping in, with things getting heated between Prince Yadav and Tristan Stubbs. The Dilli vs UP derby is well and truly spicing up now.

That’s the breakthrough LSG were desperately hunting for. Nitish Rana will be disappointed with that, a loose stroke that finds the slips, where Abdul Samad makes no mistake with a sharp catch.

What adds another layer to this is the tactical call that follows. DC bring in Sameer Rizvi as the impact substitute, opting against Ashutosh Sharma.

It’s an interesting move, especially with someone like Axar Patel available, who could have helped stabilise things in this situation. Instead, DC seem to be backing intent over consolidation here.

There’s a bit of spice in the pitch tonight, and this is shaping up to be one of those proper contests. Not a blind-hitting slugfest, but a classic battle where bat and ball are evenly matched.

Nitish Rana seems well aware of what’s on offer for the bowlers, choosing not to force his shots early on. It’s been a composed and steady start from the left-hander, reading conditions nicely.

Lovely over from the master to set things rolling. LSG have made a strong start to their innings, even if it hasn’t mirrored the tempo of the first. There is still enough here to turn this into a real contest against DC.

The big question now is whether DC have the temperament to absorb the pressure and grind their way back into the game.

Mohammed Shami, you beauty. What a way to start off the season. KL Rahul will be kicking himself for being as reckless as he did. Looked to go big but got the edge and finds the man perfectly placed at the deep backward point region. Brilliant start for LSG but they need more of this.

That's a bowling scorecard that the Delhi Capitals coaching staff will be proud of.

Everybody chipped in. From Mukesh Kumar in the powerplay to T Natarajan at the death. Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav were the standout performers.

Is 141 going to be tricky? LSG would have had a chance on this pitch had they scored 170. 141 might not be enough. 

Lungi Ngidi gets two in two in his last over, dismissing Mohsin Khan and Anrich Nortje. 

Lucknow Super Giants have been bolwed out for 141 in 18.4 overs. That's disappointing as they left six balls in the innings. 

A terrific bowling show from Delhi Capitals. Lungi Ngidi was spectacular with his slower ones. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel got the ball to dance to their tunes. And T Natarajan shone on debut, picking three wickets. 

Shahbaz Ahmed, the Impact Player, was left stranded on 15 off 16. Everything backfired for LSG. From Rishabh Pant's dismissal to getting bowled out in 18.4 overs, nothing went their way in their first game of the season. 

The faces of the fans in Lucknow tell the story. 

A 33-run partnership has been broken. T Natarajan gets his second wicket. A crucial wicket as he dismisses Abdul Samad, the in-form batter, before the last two overs. 

It's not working for LSG as they have lost wickets in crucial phases. 

A partnership was developing between Samad and Shahbaz. 

Now, Mohammed Shami is the new man in. 

A terrific spell from Kuldeep Yadav. Two wickets and concedes just 31 runs. He must have enjoyed bowling on that pitch. He got the big wicket of Mitchell Marsh and Mukul Chowdhary in his first outing in IPL 2026. 

This Ekana pitch has been refreshing. While there are value for shots on a superb outfield, the bowlers have had something to play with. This has not been the case in other venues. 

It's not a happy camp in Lucknow. Justin Langer, the head coach, walked out to talk to the two youngsters during the timeout. 

Lucknow need a partnership. If they get past 160, they have a total to fight for on this pitch. 

Can Shahbaz and Samad get the job done? 

Kuldeep is bowling his final over here. 

Lucknow Super Giants have brought in Shahbaz Ahmed as their Impact Sub. They lost 6 wickets in the 14th over. 

Now, they have sacrificed the option of Digvesh Rathi to bring in Ahmed. 

Kuldeep Yadav has enforced this change by picking up the wicket of Mukul Chowdhary with another googly. The partnership between Mukul and Abdul Samad was starting to build, but the wicket has pegged LSG back. 

Digvesh was bowling his heart out in the nets on Tuesday. He did not even waste the pre-match warm-up time. But, he won't bowl in Lucknow today. 

Rishabh Pant has found his most impactful role at the top of the order. His strike rate as an opener is the highest among all the batting positions he has played in T20s.

So, not a bad move from LSG. But, it didn't work out today. 

Mukul Chowdhary and Abdul Samad have looked good. They have taken 12 runs from Vipraj Nigam's first over. The young leggie bowled a couple of freebies, bowling short. That's something Delhi Capitals haven't done. 

LSG don't have batting beyond this pair as they have four bowlers after this. 

These two need to take them past 140.

A beautiful googly to get Mitchell Marsh. Kuldeep Yadav joins the fun. The Australian opener has fallen for 35 off 28. He was the only LSG batter who was trying to understand the pace of the pitch. But, now he is gone inside the 10th over. 

Axar Patel is super thrilled. All his moves have been working today. 

New man is Mukul Chowdhary. He has joined Abdul Samad. 

Abdul Samad is the new man in. Can he join Mitchell Marsh and stitch a partnership for Lucknow Super Giants. 

The young man has come into this season of IPL after scoring truckloads of runs in J&K's Ranji Trophy campaign. 

LSG need a partnership. 

The pitch is turning for the spinners. THe slower ones are working well for the pacers. 

Nicholas Pooran has been dismissed by a slower one from Lungi Ngidi. The famous dipper from the South African pace man. Pooran had no clue. 

Ngidi is happy and he looks at someone and signals that their plan has worked. 

Delhi Capitals have been in complete control with the ball. 

Axar Patel deserves credit for some fine bowling changes. 

This has been a very good pitch. Turn and bounce so far. There was overnight rain and that could have aided the early help for the bowlers on this red-soil surface. 

The ball has not been coming onto the bat so well. 

Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, completes a fine first over. Just seven runs from it and he gets turn and bounce, as well. 

Nicholas Pooran has finally walked into bat. He is coming in at No. 5 in the 7th over.

Is this the right call from Lucknow Super Giants? Should they not give their best batter more overs to bat? 

Meanwhile, T Natarjan has completed a terrific first over, giving away just 2 runs and picking the wicket of Ayush Badoni.

So far, Delhi Capitals haven't missed Mitchell Starc. 

Why was Ayush Badoni sent ahead of NIcholas Pooran? LSG were not even looking for a left-right combo with Mitchell Marsh at the other end. 

He is out for 0. The young Delhi batter goes for a wild hoick and gets an outside edge. A good wicket for T Natarajan, who is back to bowling full tilt after injury concerns last year. 

Ayush looked so good in the nets yesterday, but he has failed to trouble the scorers. 

Axar Patel fights back. He bowled full and was lofted over his head by Aiden Markram, the South African captain. The next delivery, he shortens the length. It was not the length to play a pull shot. And Markram is beaten.

The stumps are broken and it's a huge wicket. 

Lucknow have lost Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant in the powerplay. 

Mukesh Kumar has done a fine job. He has bowled tight lines and lengths to give away just 17 runs in 3 overs. 

Good call from Axar Patel to give him all three overs on the trot in the powerplay.

He was aided by the extra bounce on this surface.

The pitch has played fine so far. Extra bounce and pace for the fast bowlers, turn for the lone spinner.

Two length balls and both were dispatched to the boundary. Lungi Ngidi erred in terms of length and he has been smashed. He should have tried bowling a fuller length and should have invited Marsh to play the drives. 

Meanwhile, the outfield is lightning in Lucknow. The ball is racing to the boundary once it clears the infield. 

Rishabh Pant tried to play a scoop and was nearly caught behind by KL Rahul. The young man needs to calm down and trust his natural flair. Having come out to bat in the powerplay, he just needs to clear the infield.

Lungi Ngidi is bowling the second over and he has been greeted by a Mitchell Marsh cut short that raced to the boundary. 

A terrific drive from Rishabh Pant. He is opening the batting for LSG today. Head coach Justin Langer refused to comment if Pant would bat at No. 3 when he came to the press meet on Tuesdayl.
