MI sweating over Rohit Sharma fitness, Mumbai star set for scans on hamstring issue
Rohit Sharma is set to undergo scans to determine the extent of the hamstring injury he suffered during MI's loss to RCB at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday, April 12. Rohit suffered the issue during the sixth over of MI's chase.

Mumbai Indians star batter Rohit Sharma is scheduled to undergo scans to assess the severity of his reported hamstring injury, Cricbuzz reported. His availability for Mumbai's next match against Punjab Kings on April 16 will depend on the scan results.
Rohit sustained the injury during MI's chase in their loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore, exiting in the sixth over of the second innings. He received medical attention from the Mumbai Indians physio before the first ball of the over, causing a lengthy delay. Although he returned to face the next delivery, he could only defend it before retiring hurt and walking off the field. The scan results will provide clarity on the extent of the injury.
Before leaving the field on Sunday, Rohit had scored 19 runs off 13 deliveries. Currently, no further information has been shared beyond the confirmation of his hamstring issue.
"I'm not entirely sure yet - perhaps it's a bit of a hamstring issue - but I can't say for certain. I was in the dugout, so I don't have much information on it," said Sherfane Rutherford during the post-match press conference.
ROHIT'S SEASON SO FAR IN IPL 2026
Rohit's season so far includes 137 runs from four innings, including one fifty. He was in solid form before the injury interrupted his rhythm. With Mumbai Indians managing just one win in four matches, his presence is particularly important given his vast experience, having recently completed 15 years with the team.
During the game against RCB, Rohit also reached the milestone of 6,000 runs for Mumbai Indians. Should he miss upcoming matches, MI may need to adjust their playing combination, something that captain Hardik Pandya alluded to after the loss. Options include bringing Quinton de Kock back to open alongside Ryan Rickleton, who has been in good touch this season.
Another possibility is promoting Suryakumar Yadav to opener, a role he has performed before in the IPL for Mumbai Indians, where he scored 441 runs from 12 matches in that position.
