Marcus Rashford has dropped a major hint regarding his future after delivering a title-winning performance against arch-rivals Real Madrid at Camp Nou. The England international, currently on loan at Barcelona from Premier League giants Manchester United, has played a crucial role in the club’s successful La Liga title defence this season.

The 28-year-old winger produced a moment of brilliance in the ninth minute of El Clasico, curling in a stunning free-kick to help Barcelona secure a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid. The win sealed the Catalan club’s 29th La Liga crown with three matches still remaining in the campaign.

Speaking after the match, Rashford admitted that lifting the title with Barcelona was a dream ending to an unforgettable season.

“This is the perfect way I want it to end,” Rashford told ESPN. “I’m very happy and I just want to enjoy today. I live in the moment. At the end of the season we will see what happens. I came here to win and we have done that, so I’m very happy. It’s an incredible feeling.”

Rashford has repeatedly spoken positively about life in Spain and has consistently hinted that he would like to remain at Barcelona beyond the current campaign. The forward has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in Catalonia, registering 28 goal contributions across all competitions and quickly becoming a fan favourite under head coach Hansi Flick.

WHAT DOES RASHFORD WANT?

When asked in the mixed zone whether he expected to still be a Barcelona player at the beginning of next season, Rashford once again suggested he would welcome a permanent move to the Spanish champions.

“I don’t know,” Rashford said. “I am not a magician, but if it was up to me, I would stay. We will see what happens. I came here to win and I want to win as many trophies as I can.”

Rashford joined Barcelona on loan last summer after spending the second half of the previous season at Aston Villa. Despite making more than 400 appearances for his boyhood club Manchester United, the England star gradually fell down the pecking order under former United boss Ruben Amorim.

However, reports in England suggest that Michael Carrick, who is currently serving as Manchester United’s interim manager after guiding the club back into the Champions League, could attempt to convince Rashford to return to Old Trafford if he is appointed permanently.

Even so, Rashford has made his intentions increasingly clear throughout the season, with the winger keen to secure a long-term future at Barcelona. Head coach Hansi Flick is also believed to be eager for the club to complete a permanent transfer following the Englishman’s impact during their title-winning campaign.
