MC Mary Kom (51kg)

Achievement: A five-time world champion, Mary is no stranger for Indian sports fans. As women's boxing makes its Olympic debut at the London Games, the country will be expecting a medal from the 29-year-old mother of two. The courage and determination the boxer from Manipur showed to win her fifth world title in 2010 proved that she will be a force to reckon with in the London. She is the only Indian woman boxer going to the Games and as such, the country will look to her for more fireworks in the ring.

Vijender Kumar (75kg)

Achievement: His bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics was a major boost for boxing in the country. As a result, India has its biggest ever contingent of pugilist going to the Olympics this time. Vijender, who also has a world championship medal in his kitty, wants to climb to the top of the medal podium this time round.

Sumit Sangwan (81kg)

Achievement: One of the youngest members of the contingent, Sumit made the cut by clinching gold at the Asian Olympic Qualifier in Astana, Kazakhstan - . which was remarkably his maiden international event at the senior level.

L Devendro (49kg)

Achievement: The Manipuri lad wants to become the first from his state to win an Olympic medal. The 20-year-old boxer won silver at the President's Cup in May.

Jai Bhagwan (60kg)

Achievement: A bronze at the Delhi Commonwealth Games started his rise in Indian boxing, although he had a silver at the Asian Championship in 2009 to his credit. His quarter-final finish at the 2011 World Championships last year ensured him an Olympic berth.

Vikas Krishan (69kg)

Achievement: A relatively unknown face till the 2010 Asian Games, Vikas shot to limelight with a gold in Guangzhou and has never looked behind. A bronze at the Olympic test event in November came next but it was the bronze medal at the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, that established him as a strong force amongst the top boxers of the world.

Shiva Thapa (56kg)

Achievement: The youngest Indian boxer to have qualified for the Olympics, the 18-year-old from Guwahati took up the sport after watching Mike Tysons bouts. He won gold at the Asian Olympic Qualifier. The youngest of six siblings, Shiva has been inspired by brother Gobind, a state-level boxer.

Manoj Kumar (64kg)

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Manoj became the first Indian boxer to qualify for the London Games when he beat Chinese opponent Qing Hu 17-15 at the World Championship. He is so eager to go into a contest that he has to be actually calmed down, say his coaches.
