Jessica Pegula emulates Serena Williams at Canadian Open

World No. 3 Jessica Pegula secured her third career victory by winning the Canadian Open, her second WTA 1000 title. She defeated Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 6-0 in the final. Pegula became the first American in a decade to win the Canadian Open, previously achieved by Serena Williams in 2013. She is also the first American to win in Montreal since Monica Seles in 1998. Pegula's triumph, coupled with previous wins, places her alongside Serena and Venus Williams with multiple WTA 1000 titles.

Video: Vijay swears in as Tamil Nadu CM amid roars, chants of frenzied crowd

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
