Apple is all set to host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 8, and this year's event could be one of the company's most important in recent years. The reason? Artificial intelligence. Two years after Apple's first major AI rollout was criticised for delayed features and underwhelming technology, the company is preparing to show how it plans to catch up in the AI race. The WWDC 2026 keynote is expected to focus heavily on a revamped Siri, new AI-powered features, and updates across Apple's software ecosystem.

While Apple is expected to announce many more features during the event, we bring some of the most widely reported upgrades that could be unveiled at WWDC 2026.

How to watch WWDC 2026 live

The WWDC 2026 keynote is scheduled for June 8 (Monday). The livestream will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 10:30 p.m. IST, from Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

Interested viewers can watch the event live on Apple's official YouTube channel. The keynote will also be available through Apple's TV app on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro, and Apple TV, with the livestream link becoming available on the day of the event or shortly before it begins.

Apple's AI comeback starts with Siri

The biggest announcement is expected to be a completely revamped Siri. Apple has reportedly been working on the project for quite some time. According to Bloomberg, the new Siri is internally known as "Campo." The company is said to be transforming Siri from a traditional voice assistant into an AI companion that can help users complete tasks throughout the day across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. This could mark Apple's biggest attempt yet to make Siri competitive with modern AI assistants.

Google may play a bigger role than expected

One of the more surprising developments is Apple's reported partnership with Google. Apple is relying on Google's Gemini AI model as part of a billion-dollar agreement. Google is also expected to host much of the new Siri's AI infrastructure on its servers.

Siri could become much more useful

The upgraded Siri is expected to perform more advanced tasks than ever before. It may be able to understand information displayed on a user's screen and navigate deeper within apps through voice commands.

Users could ask Siri to draft emails using specific topics and information. The assistant may also be able to pull information from emails, calendars, contacts, notes, and the web to complete tasks. For the first time, Siri could help users check their availability before scheduling appointments and identify overlapping events more effectively.

Siri may move into the Dynamic Island

Apple is also expected to redesign how Siri appears on modern iPhones. Instead of the glowing interface around the edges of the display, Siri may open directly inside the Dynamic Island when users activate it. When users request information, Siri could display rich text cards with results related to people, places, news, weather, sports scores, and more.

A new "Search or Ask" experience

Apple is reportedly introducing a new "Search or Ask" interface. Users may be able to access it by swiping down from the top centre of the iPhone. The feature is expected to combine app launching, web searches, text messaging, weather information, calendar management, notes, shortcuts, and AI-powered assistance in one place.

The interface is also expected to include Siri Suggestions, commonly used apps, recent searches, and contextual information such as weather updates.

Siri may finally become a chatbot

Perhaps the biggest change is Apple's reported plan to transform Siri into a chatbot that can compete with services such as ChatGPT and Gemini. Apple is also expected to allow users to issue multiple commands at once and combine requests in a more natural way.

The new Siri app could include conversation history, cross-device syncing through iCloud, photo support, and automatic chat deletion features.

Apple is also reportedly working on an "Ask Siri" feature that would allow users to highlight text anywhere in iOS and send it to Siri for analysis, much like existing AI assistant tools. A new "Write with Siri" feature is also expected to help users compose text across Apple's operating systems.

A Bloomberg report says Apple is labelling the new Siri internally as a "beta" and "preview," suggesting the company may position it as a work in progress when it launches later this year.

AI upgrades beyond Siri

Apple's AI ambitions are expected to extend well beyond its voice assistant.Visual Intelligence could receive major upgrades, including the ability to recognise nutrition labels and contact information.

The Photos app may get new AI-powered editing tools, including an Extend feature that generates image content beyond the original frame and an Enhance feature designed to improve image quality and colour. The existing Clean Up tool is also expected to receive significant improvements.

Safari, Genmoji, wallpapers and shortcuts get smarter

Apple is reportedly working on an AI-powered Organise Tabs feature that automatically groups Safari tabs into categories such as shopping, travel, and work.

A new Suggested Genmoji feature could automatically create Genmoji images using a user's photos and frequently used phrases.

Users may also be able to create custom wallpapers simply by describing what they want.

Meanwhile, Apple's Shortcuts app is expected to receive a major AI upgrade. Instead of manually building automations step by step, users may be able to describe what they want in natural language and let AI create the shortcut.

More changes are expected

Beyond AI, Apple is reportedly preparing updates for notifications, Safari, the Camera app, keyboard animations, and other parts of iOS 27. The company is also expected to introduce iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 during the keynote.

Most of the features announced at WWDC 2026 are expected to arrive later this year alongside Apple's next generation of iPhones and other devices. However, some features could change, be delayed, or arrive at a later date depending on development progress.

While these are some of the most widely reported upgrades ahead of the event, Apple is expected to announce many more features during the keynote itself.
