Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, popularly known as Dhanush in the world of films, is an Indian actor, filmmaker, lyricist and playback singer who mainly works in Tamil cinema and has also done Hindi and Telugu films. Born July 28, 1983, he made his debut in the 2002 film, Thulluvadho Ilamai, a coming-of-age film directed by his father, Kasthuri Raja.
Dhanush's accolades include four National Film Awards and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. He has been included in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list six times.

A fire broke out at the Idly Kadai movie set in Anuppapatti village, Andipatti block on Saturday. The film, directed and co-produced by Dhanush, who also stars in it, had already completed its shoot at the location before the incident. Idly Kadai is slated for release later this year.
