Rishi Sunak, a name that has become synonymous with British politics, assumed the role of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party in 2022, marking a historic moment as the first British Asian Prime Minister. Born on May 12, 1980, in Southampton to parents of Indian descent, Sunak's family roots trace back to East Africa. His educational journey led him to prestigious institutions, including Winchester College, Oxford's Lincoln College, and Stanford University in California, where he earned an MBA as a Fulbright Scholar.

Before entering politics, Sunak gained valuable experience in the financial world, working at Goldman Sachs and becoming a partner at hedge fund firms, including The Children's Investment Fund Management and Theleme Partners.

Sunak's political career took flight when he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond (Yorks) in 2015. His support for the successful Brexit campaign in the 2016 EU membership referendum solidified his position within the Conservative Party.

In a series of political appointments, Sunak climbed the ranks, ultimately becoming Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2020. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, implementing economic support measures like the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

Despite a government crisis that led to his resignation as Chancellor, Sunak's political career persevered. He emerged as the leader of the Conservative Party and, subsequently, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
