A parasailing ride in Goa turned into a near-fatal scare for a woman who said the adventure activity spiralled out of control within seconds, leaving her struggling in the middle of the sea.
The incident was shared by Sushmitha Gowrav on Instagram, where she posted a video recounting the experience. What began as a leisure activity quickly turned dangerous after she fell into the water and the parasailing rope tightened around her neck.
“1 minute of thrill, almost cost me everything,” she wrote, summing up the ordeal.
The video captures moments from the ride before things suddenly take a turn. According to Gowrav, the situation changed in an instant. “What started as a fun parasailing experience in Goa, ended with me struggling in the middle of the sea. Fell into the water. Rope around my neck. Panic. Silence. Fear,” she wrote, describing the intensity of the moment.
She added that the most frightening part was the loss of control. “No camera can capture that feeling when you realize, you’re not in control anymore,” she said, recalling the seconds when she was left helpless in the water.

Gowrav said she was fortunate that someone stepped in to help. “I was lucky. Someone came. Someone saved me. Not everyone gets that second chance,” she wrote, urging others to take safety seriously before attempting such activities. “Before you try any water sport, ask questions, check safety, trust your gut. Because some experiences don’t just stay as memories, they stay as trauma.”
