Children of war: A generation buried under Gaza

The ongoing conflict has turned Gaza into a 'graveyard' for children, with over 3,450 reported deaths and the numbers rising daily.

This surpasses the annual number of children killed across global conflict zones since 2019.

The UN has warned that the risk of children dying from injuries is at an all-time high due to a third of hospitals in Gaza being non-operational because of electricity cuts and a blockade by the Israeli government. The mental health of these children is also severely affected, with four out of five children living with depression, grief, and fear.

The loss of children has escalated Gaza's humanitarian needs, with severe shortages of essential necessities such as food, water, and medicine. The international community is urged to intervene and ensure the safety of these innocent lives.

Video: PM Modi hugs, touches feet of 98-year-old BJP veteran in Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hugged and honoured 98-year-old Makhanlal Sarkar, one of the earliest and senior most members of the BJP. The scene unfolded on the stage ahead of Suvendu Adhikari's swearing-in as West Bengal's Chief Minister in Kolkata. PM Modi also touched Sarkar's feet and presented a shawl to him as a mark of respect. In 1952, Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while he was accompanying Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as the latter was marching to hoist the tricolour there. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
