Nepal's interim PM Sushila Karki vows justice after deadly protests

Following violent protests, Nepal has appointed its first woman Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, to lead an interim government. In her first public address, Karki pledged justice and accountability, ordering a judicial inquiry into the September 8 violence that claimed over 70 lives.

She issued a stern warning that "those who looted and destroyed government property in the name of Gen Z protests will not be spared."

Karki also announced that those who lost their lives in the violence will be given martyr status and their families will receive 10 lakh rupees in compensation.
