Pop star Rihanna extends support to farmers' agitation

In a tweet on Tuesday, pop star Rihanna extended support to the ongoing farmers' agitation. "why aren't we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest," Rihanna said on Twitter while attaching a news report about internet shutdowns around Delhi as part of the Centre's efforts to contain the protesting farmers.
Hindi film actor Kangana Ranaut was one of the first to react to Rihanna's remarks. In a tweet, Ranaut said, "No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA... Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies."

PM Modi also touched Sarkar's feet and presented a shawl to him as a mark of respect. In 1952, Sarkar was arrested in Kashmir while he was accompanying Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as the latter was marching to hoist the tricolour there. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya described the elderly party leader as "one of the earliest grassroots figures associated with the nationalist movement in post-Independence India."
