The PML-N representative declared that Pakistan 'will back Bangladesh in war against India' and asserted that both nations 'do not accept India's ideology.' The statement, described as an open hint at military conflict, comes amidst reports of Pakistan seeking a formal military alliance with Dhaka. The report highlights that Islamabad is attempting to exploit recent tensions between New Delhi and Bangladesh to forge a defence pact, with the PML-N vowing to deploy its army and missiles in support of Bangladesh if a conflict arises.

Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
