AIADMK eyes talks with Vijay's TVK after exit poll signals strong debut in Tamil Nadu

AIADMK is exploring the option of holding talks with Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam after exit poll predictions projected a strong debut for TVK in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly election, sources said, adding that Vijay’s role would be determined by the number of seats won by TVK.

The reported move comes after Axis My India projections gave Vijay’s party 98 to 120 seats, placing it alongside the DMK-led alliance, while DMK-INC+ was projected to win 92 to 110 seats and the NDA 22 to 32 seats.

According to the survey, TVK is likely to secure around 35 per cent vote share, matching the ruling bloc, while the AIADMK-led alliance was projected at roughly 23 per cent.

The exit poll also suggested that Vijay had emerged as the most preferred choice for Chief Minister with 37 per cent support, narrowly ahead of Chief Minister MK Stalin at 35 per cent.

The data also pointed to strong support for TVK among younger voters. The survey estimated 68 per cent support among first-time voters aged 18 to 19, 59 per cent among those aged 20 to 29, and 45 per cent in the 30 to 39 age group.

It said TVK had drawn support across students, unemployed youth and urban voters, while also making inroads among OBC and SC communities, minority voters, and both urban and rural segments.

The exit poll said the desire for change was a major factor, with around 35 per cent of voters citing it as their primary reason, rising to 77 per cent among TVK supporters.
